I am currently working at the Des Moines Gannett Design Studio. I work for the Wisconsin team, which means I know a lot more about Wausau, Manitowoc, Sheboygan and other Wisconsin towns than I do about Iowa. It’s a fun and unique experience, and I’ve definitely grown a lot as a designer over the past few years.
Working in the studio is a unique experience, and I have benefited a lot from its design-focused environment. Being surrounded by other designers makes it easy to get opinions and help on pages. I’ve been able learn from some really talented people.
I graduated in May 2012 from Creighton University. I majored in journalism, with a news emphasis, and minored in music. I studied abroad, interned at two different local news stations (one in Colorado Springs and one in Omaha) and was the editor-in-chief of Creighton’s student-run newspaper, The Creightonian.
I have experience all over the place, and love to try new things. I didn’t expect to be a designer, but I am really enjoying it. News design can be incredibly rewarding. Please feel free to look through the samples I have up, and let me know if you want any additional information. I also have writing, photography and broadcast samples up as well.
